Taking on the Marathon Challenge

I once signed up for the Chicago Marathon. Paid my registration, told my friends and family and started running... for 4 weeks and then I gave up. My excuses: too busy, crazy work schedule, too hot, too cold and many more. So I wasted $125 and have yet to finish a marathon. In the meantime I have managed to complete a half-marathon, but the idea of running a full marathon is still nagging at me. I'm not a very confident person when it comes to challenging myself or trying something that requires just a little more work. But people of all different shapes and sizes run & finish marathons all the time, so there is absolutely no reason why I shouldn't able to do it either.
After some encouragement from my boyfriend and convincing him to do it with me, we both signed up for the 2010 Chicago Marathon. Four hours after we signed up registration closed! We got in just time. 10/10/10 is the date. It has to happen this time, it's just meant to be.

So I decided to write a blog to chronicle our training progress, ups & downs and ultimate achievement. I figured this would help me stay motivated and keep us on track. We are two weeks into training now and the running part is going very well, there has just been one little added challenge at this point...... her name is Harley and she is our 4 month old, 8 lbs Puggle puppy. Obviously Harley is still to small to run with us but she is part of the family now so it'll be interesting to see how this is going to play out.

Stay tuned for more and here's to 10/10/10!
